After pick up from the hotel, we drive to the ferry terminal in Banjul to board the ferry that will take us to Barra the northern side of the river Gambia.The ferry ride across the river is another experience of the Gambians daily life.Upon arrival in Barra, we drive toward the border village of Amdalai in the Gambia for an exit stamp.
A few minutes afterwards, we enter the border village of Karang in northern Senegal for an entry stamp.From here on, our journey into the northern part of Senegal begins toward the capital Dakar.On our journey before Kaolack the second commercial city of Senegal, we have a family visit to get a closer glimpse of the up country life in Senegal.
After the family visit, we drive to Kaolack where upon arrival we will be visiting the poplar Kaolack market as well as the grand mosque.After the sightseeing of the market and the mosque, we are then set for our traditional Senegalese national diet BENACHIN as lunch.After the lunch break, we continue on our journey towards the north.
On our way there will be a few smoking and toilet stops and to stretch our legs.Upon arrival in Dakar, we check directly in to our hotel to refresh ourselves with a cold bath and a bottle of Senegalese own made beer.Then in the evening after dinner, we have a mini night life sightseeing of the Senegalese capital before we set for bed.
After breakfast, we set for the popular slave island of Goree by ferry from the mainland. The ferry ride takes between 25 – 30 minutes.
Upon arrival at Goree Island, our Senegalese guide will take us on a tour of the Island with some historical information of what actually transpired on that island during the slavery days in Africa.
After the tour of the Island, we head back to the mainland for a delicious lunch and a mid day break before we begin the visit to the popular Sandaga market in the heart of Dakar where souvenirs can be bought and also a visit to the National park in the middle of Dakar.
In the evening after dinner, we have another mini sightseeing tour of the city again before setting for bed.
After breakfast, we check out of our hotel to visit the Pink Lake which lies some kilometers from Dakar.
Here at the Pink Lake, we will experience how local salt is produced both for home consumption and exportation.
After the visit at the Pink Lake, we then start our journey back home to the Gambia where we will have our lunch stop at Kaolack one more time.
This 3 days adventurous trip to Dakar is full board except drinks in the hotel and at the restaurants
